Dr. Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve characterized by a specific pattern of progressive injury to retinal ganglion cells and their axons, which results in alteration of optic disc topography, commonly known as “cupping,” and associated visual field loss. The Heidelberg retinal tomography (HRT) is a confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope specifically designed to acquire three-dimensional images of the optic nerve head and posterior pole. In this review we evaluated technical details and sensetivity of the HRT machine in diagnosis and progression of glaucoma patients.
